Bitterroot Corona Bounces In BOA Rocky Mountain Turf Club Maiden Challenge Win

LETHBRIDGE, ALB—MAY 23, 2015—Coming off a second-place effort in her May 9 trial race, Bitterroot Corona used a big finish to put Streakin Timber away by a half-length in the $23,738 Bank of America Rocky Mountain Turf Club Maiden Challenge at Lethbridge Saturday afternoon. Fantastic Attitude, who would have in the fastest qualifier accept for a disqualification in the trials, finished one-length back in third.

Ridden by jockey Ricardo Moreno, Bitterroot Corona got her first career win while completing the 350 yards in :18.105 seconds to earn a 91 speed index and pocket the winner's purse of $11,874. William Leech conditions the Sizzlin Red Corona filly for owner Glenn Willis.

Bred in Alberta by Willis and T. Copithorne, the sorrel filly is out of Rj Bitterroot Babe by El Mistrial. Her career record stands at (6) 1-1-1.

Streakin Timber, who entered the race off his first career win in the trials, races for owner/breeder Shirley Laczo. Les Adams saddled the son of First Timber out of Streakin Jordash, by Streakin Six. Ramiro Castillo had the riding assignment and picked up $5,071 for the effort.

Fantastic Attitude, a filly by Fantastic Corona Jr out of Jess Jets, by Mr Jess Perry, races for owner Brian Weatherill. Alan Goodsell trains the California bred who earned $2,474 for her effort. John Andreini is the breeder.

Completing the field were Shez Double Quick, Sweet Corona Jr, Ms Red Stilettos, Splashy Mamacita and Witnessing Faith.
