Sign Of Corona Gets New Track Record In Eastern Idaho State Fair Bonus Challenge

BLACKFOOT, ID—SEPTEMBER 11, 2015—Sign Of Corona defeated Bigtime Carter in track record times to get his second straight stakes victory. The Coronas Fast Dash gelding won the $16,808 Eastern Idaho State Fair Bonus Challenge by three-quarters of a length at Blackfoot on Friday afternoon. Margaritas N Coronas finished 1¼ lengths back in the show position.

Ridden by Eddie Aceves, Sign Of Corona completed the 400-yard course in :19.373 seconds with no wind to earn a 118-speed index. The previous record of :19.536 were established September 10, 2011 by A Regal Blue Sky.

James Hanson saddled the multiple stakes winner for owners RTM Stables, LLC and Carol McKinney. Bred in New Mexico by Greg Creager, the bay gelding is out of Electric Sign, by Vital Sign.

Sign Of Corona moved his career record to (13) 6-44-0 and the $8,232 winner's purse boosted his career mark to $85,253.

Multiple stakes-placed Bigtime Carter races for owner/trainer Abel Romero. Raphael Romero rode the son of Carters Cartel out of Ms Dashing Bigtime, by First Down Dash. Paris Wixom bred the half-brother to G1 winner and champion sire Bigtime Favorite in Oklahoma. He earned $3,516.

A multiple stakes winner, Margaritas N Coronas races for owner Robert Hickman and trainer Bret Vickery. Jose Figueroa rode the Corona Czech gelding out of Fly Margarita, by Strawfly Special. The $1,715 show purse brings the 5-year-olds earnings to nearly $119,000. Gregory and Renee Hickman are the breeders.

R Chump Change, Bogue, Ill Be A Dasher and Snowboudnbeast completed the field. Mypassionsspeed was scratched.
