AJAX, ONT—JULY 10, 2016—Rpainted Pistol punched his ticket to participate in the Grade 2 $150,000–Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship this fall after defeatimng Definitely Carter by one-length on Sunday in the $19,211(US) John Deere Ajax Juvenile Challenge at Ajax Downs. Denali Teller finished a neck back in third.
Ridden by jockey Ramiro Castillo, Rpainted Pistol put in a late run to finish the 350 yard course in :18.620 seconds into a 12 mph headwind. It was the second win in three starts for the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon and the $9,414(US) winners' purse boosted his career mark to $21,244.
Melena Kwiencien also owns third place finisher Denali Teller. Trained by Pascoe and ridden by Chelsey Willick, Denali Teller picked up $2,017(US) for her effort. Charles Robinson bred the Louisiana Senator filly in Oklahoma from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eye Like Beduino.
It was a stallion trifecta for Lazy E Ranch stallions. The top three sires, Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Carters Cartel and Louisiana Senator all stand at the facility near Guthrie, Oklahoma.
One Fast Effort, First Down Money Pop Hickerson and Lummis First completed the field.
The Grade 2 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship will be contested on the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night card at Los Alamitos Race Course October 29th.
