Fastest Qualifier First Rate Returns to Win John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 9, 2016—Fastest qualifier First Rate Return returned on Sunday to defeat Hope Hes The One by one-length in the $50,310 John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge. Jc Wild Rose finished another length back in the show position.

Owned by Terry McLean and trained by Gerry McLean, First Rate Return completed the 350 yards course in :17.539 seconds to earn a 95 speed index and pick up a berth to the Grade 2 $150,000 Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship October 29th at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Jockey James Flores piloted the son of first crop sire High Rate Of Return to his third win in five career starts. Also a finalist in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity, earlier this year, First Rate Return has earned $70,040. Connie Nobles bred the sorrel gelding in Oklahoma from the First Down Dash mare Tellin It All.

Hope Hes The One is an Oklahoma-homebred racing for owner/breeder Beverly House and trainer Durk Peery. Agustin Silva rode the Pappasito gelding out of One Famous Eaglette by One Famous Eagle. He eared $10,062 for the effort.

Jose Cervantes' homebred Jc Wild Rose eared $6,031 for finishing third. Luis Villafranco trains the Oklahoma-bred daughter of leading third crop sire Apollitical Jess from the Stoli mare Oh Cherokee Rose. Mario Delgado was riding the earner of $21,155.

Juno Cartel, Perfect Burn, Fire Redlipstick, Histori, Eureka and Matts Corona completed the field. Taurus was scratched.
