Heat Warning Returns in Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge Trials

PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 5, 2017—Heat Warning, a homebred 6-year-old son of A Regal Choice racing for Ralph and Carolyn Fales, is one of 15 aged sprinters entered in Saturday’s 440-yard Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge trials at Turf Paradise.

Heat Warning has won 11 of 26 starts and has earned $173,502, and all 11 of his wins have come at Turf Paradise. The stallion ended his 5-year-old campaign with a fifth-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind Zoomin For Spuds, in the 440-yard, $600,000 Champion of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos, Quarter Horse racing’s richest and most prestigious race for older runners.

Heat Warning drew post 8 and will be ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu for trainer Matt Fales in the second of two heats. His opponents in the second trial include James Marquez’s Roman Soldier Cd, a 4-year-old Apollitical Jess stallion trained by Antoinette Gonzales. Roman Soldier Cd is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he scored a half-length victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Lovington Stakes (G3) at Zia Park.

Roman Soldier Cd drew post 2 and will be ridden by Felipe Garcia-Luna.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the $55,000-added Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge on April 30.

John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge

Also on Saturday, a total of 25 2-year-olds has been entered in three 350-yard John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge trials.

Norma Reyes’ Spiritofthemountain, a chestnut daughter of champion Feature Mr Bojangles trained by Juan Figueroa, made her debut with a third-place finish in a 250-yard maiden-special-weight dash at Turf Paradise on March 20. The filly will be ridden by David Reyes-Frisby from post 4 in the first heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 30, $25,000 John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge final.
