CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 8, 2017—Robbin Caldwell’s Olena Sangria, a homebred chestnut daughter of Dashair, is one of 28 2-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 350-yard John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge trials at Will Rogers Downs.

Olena Sangria has earned $49,758 from four races, and she was a finalist in the 350-yard, $1.155-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park on June 3. The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Larry Payne for trainer Tana Caldwell in the first of four trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the September 24, $32,500-added John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge final.

Also on Sunday, Denis and Julie Schoenhofer’s Famousist will make his next start in the first of two 400-yard Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge trials.

A bay son of champion Separatist trained by Jose Gamez, Famousist will be stretching out in distance off of his third-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner Born To B Bad, in the 350-yard, $67,000 Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. The gelding’s season resume includes a second-place run, a neck behind winner Myst Fit, in the March 25, $251,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park.

Famousist drew the rail post and will be ridden by Omar Reyes.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $32,500-added final on September 24.
