Always Right Gets Up to Set the Fastest Time In John Deere Evergreen Juvenile Challenge Trials

GRANDE PRARIE, ALB—AUGUST 4, 2018—Always Right, under jockey Ricardo Moreno, got up at the wire to defeat Ifarm by a neck in the second of two trials for the John Deere Evergreen Juvenile Challenge Saturday in Grande Prairie.

The pair posted the top-two qualifying times for the $18,500-added the 350 yards Juvenile Challenge race and will return with the other six qualifiers on Sunday, August 19th to contest the final. The first two-finishers will advance to $125,000 Grade 2 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship on November 17 at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Conditioned by trainer William Leech, Always Right completed the 350 yards in :17.755 seconds into a 20 mph crosswind to earn a 102 speed index and establish the top qualifying mark.

Charles Stojan owns the California-bred daughter of Stel Corona from the Hawkish mare Hard Lining. After two off-the-board performances in April at Los Alamitos, the Edward Allred-bred filly broke her maiden June 17th when she won the All Canadian Futurity (not black type) at Lethbridge.

The aforementioned Ifarm, an Oregon-bred son of first-crop sire Coronado Cartel, held for the second fastest time of :17.817 seconds, a 99 speed index. Buckey Stockwell conditions the 2-year-old for himself and Beverly Stockwell. Blandford Stewart was up.

Still a maiden in four starts, the gelding out Avery Hope by Mr Eye Opener was third in the Jerry Stojan Memorial Stakes in his last start. Donald and Peggy Boyle are the breeder.

Fdd Thru Runnin, an Oklahoma-bred son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty broke his maiden in the opening trial to get the fourth fastest time of :18.143 seconds, a 92 speed index.

Trainer Tom Kenway conditions the bay colt for owners Gary Nielson and James Dunn. Urschel 3-D Ranch LLC bred Fdd Thru Runnin from the Walk Thru Fire mare Thru Runnin. Martin Ortiz was riding. This was his second start.

Multiple stakes sires Favorite Cartel and First Timber each sired two qualifiers.
