GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 2, 2018—Eleven fillies and mares, headed by 5-2 morning-line favorite Jess Adalida, have been entered in Friday’s 400-yard, $39,060 AQHA Lone Star Distaff Challenge at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Josue Ponce for owner Ruben Garcia Montemayor, Jess Adalida will be making her first start since May 11, when she ran eighth, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Sr Shambles, in the 350-yard, $70,000 Old South Derby at Delta Downs.

The sorrel daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue has earned $76,424 from 10 races, and her resume includes a 1 1/2-length victory in last year’s 350-yard, $70,000 John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge Stakes at Retama Park.

Jess Adalida drew the rail post and will be ridden by Manuel Gutierrez.

The AQHA Distaff Challenge is one of five regional Challenge races scheduled throughout the year at various North American racetracks. It offers two automatic berths to the Grade 1, $100,000 Distaff Challenge Championship which is part of the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Los Alamitos on November 17. The first and second place finishers from each of the five regionals will get compete in the Championship. This is the final of the five regionals.

The Distaff Challenge is race 11 on the 12-race lineup. Approximate post time is 10:45 p.m.
