Nine Juveniles Face Off In John Deere California Regional Final

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 15, 2019—A berth to the John Deere Juvenile Challenge final will be on the line when nine 2-year-olds get together for the $43,291 California regional final on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

The John Deere Juvenile Challenge is part of the 2019 AQHA Bank of America Racing Challenge, which will be held at The Downs at Albuquerque on Saturday, October 26.

Owned by Randy Dickerson and trained by Nick Lowe, fastest qualifier CM Singing The Blues will headline the California field at 350 yards after winning his trial by a neck. The Oregon-bred gelding usually displays a strong finishing kick in his races and he did just that when rallying from third to win his heat on August 3. Cesar Franco will be aboard the son of Inseperable.

The rest of the starting lineup will be headed by a strong foursome owned by Reliance Ranches and trained by Mike Robbins. Leading this group will be the Tres Seis gelding Invader, who has already scored three victories at Los Alamitos this year.

The Jerry Windham-bred runner posted a 3/4 length win in his California Juvenile trial, but his winning time of :18.10 was 9/100ths of a second slower than CM Singing The Blues' top qualifying time of :18.01.

Invader broke in at the start of his trial, but should be right with the top leaders in this solid race. His stablemates are Giving Freely, the runner-up to CM Singing The Blues and second fastest qualifier,

Lady Six Sky, the runner-up to Invader in the trials, and SC South Sixteen, a filly out of champion Spit Curl Diva. The Monty Arrossa-trained duo of Kiss Fast Zoom and Tobi James plus Lager Lady and Shez Divine will complete the field.
