Challenge Action Heats Up at Pocatello Downs

POCATELLO, ID—JULY 6, 2020—Dr Tool, a gelded son of Kiss My Hocks owned and trained by Luis H. Gonzalez, is one of 10 3-year-olds entered back in Wednesday’s 400-yard, $39,740 Adequan Pocatello Downs Derby Challenge Stakes.

Dr Tool will be making his first-ever start at Pocatello Downs. The gelding won two races at Weber Downs in Ogden, Utah, including the 400-yard, $51,000 Adequan Weber Downs Derby Challenge on May 24.

Dr Tool drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jesus Valenzuela.

The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments and morning-line odds:

Also on Wednesday, a dozen aged runners are entered in two 440-yard Bank of America Pocatello Downs Championship Challenge trials. Pedro Gutierrez Marquez’s Walcott, a 5-year-old Tee Cos stallion trained by Alejandro Chavez, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Mauro Salcedo in the first of two heats. Walcott is coming off of a fourth-place finish in the 350-yard, $40,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso Downs on May 25.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Wednesday’s trials will meet in the July 31 Bank of America Pocatello Downs Championship Challenge final.
