O First Sweet Heart got her second stakes win on Saturday in the $35,156(US) John Deere Grand Prairie Juvenile Challenge at Evergreen Park.

O First Sweet Heart Wins John Deere Grand Prairie Juvenile Challenge

GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALB—JULY 31, 2021—Jeffrey R.W. Rath's O First Sweet Heart raced to her second consecutive stakes win on Saturday when she defeated Interes Fino by a neck in the $35,156(US) John Deere Grand Prairie Juvenile Challenge at Evergreen Park.

Under jockey Larris Allen the daughter of leading Canadian sire First Timber went wire-to-wire in :18.382 seconds into a 15 mph crosswind for the 350 yards. It was the second win in six starts this season for the bay filly and the $17,758(US) winner's purse boosted her bankroll to over $40,000.

Trainer-breeder Wesley T. Oulton saddled the Alberta-bred filly out of Eyesa Perry by Mr Jess Perry. O First Sweet Heart won the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Century Mile on July 2nd.

The win also earned O First Sweet Heart a starting spot in the $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) to be contest October 23rd during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Runner-up Interes Fino earned $7,588(US) for second. William Leech trains the California-bred son of multiple stakes sire Separate Interest for owner Charles G. Stojan. Elena Andrade bred the brown gelding from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Mas Fina. Interes Fino broke his maiden in his last start at Century Mile June 20th and has earned $11,828. Ricardo Moreno had the riding call.

First Golden Rose finished one-length back to pick up $3,867(US) for third. Winless in three starts, the daughter of First Timber was fifth in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity in her last start. Misael Moreno trains the bay filly for owner-breeder Isaak Fehr. Out of the Corona Cartel mare Madam Goldilocks, the First Golden Rose has earned $8,337.

Completing the official order of finish were Bearcat Bill, Pappie Due and Crucial.
