Awesome View Surprises, Breaks Maiden in $60,308 John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge Sunday

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 3, 2021—Bouncing off a second-place effort in the September 12th trials, Awesome View broke his maiden Sunday by defeating second-fastest qualifier Viva Le Zoom in the 60,308 John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge at Will Rogers Downs.

Champion jockey James Flores had the riding call on the lightly raced son of a leading third-crop sire Hes Relentless. Awesome View got his first win three starts by completing the 350 yards in :17.788 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 6 mph crosswind on a track upgraded to "fast".

Trainer Michelle Hurdle conditions the 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding for owner-breeders Joe and Karen Williams. Out of the Ivory James mare Ivory Key, Awesome View has compiled a (3) 1-1-1 record and banked $32,406 this season.

Awesome View also earned a spot in the $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) to be contested during the Bank of America Challenge Championships Saturday, October 23rd at The Downs at Albuquerque.

A late surge by Viva Le Zoom, under jockey Cody Smith, gave the won of Zoomin For Bux, the second-place check valued at $12,062. Tammy Kay Johnson trains the Texas-bred filly for owner-breeder Rockin J Running Horses. Also a lightly raced, Viva Le Zoom has earned $15,552 in three starts this season.

Fabulous Parker was a nose back in a hard fought loss under jockey Agustin Silva to earn $6,031 for third. Still a maiden in four starts, trainer Jose Cruz Villafranco saddled the son of leading second-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle for owner Jose Armando Chavez. Darling Farms bred the 2-year-old from the Heza Motor Scooter mare Parkers Vespa. He has earned $11,153.

Completing the official order of finish were Dedikated, Vf Kiss Me Quick, Valentino Pete, Capo de Rock, Foose Lodge, Hes Resilient and Gheto Cowboy.
