Country Boy 123 Draws Rail for Picov Maturity

AJAX, ONTARIO, CANADA—JUNE 17, 2017—Ruth F. Barbour’s Country Boy 123, the fastest qualifier and morning-line favorite, drew the rail post for Sunday’s 300-yard, $58,000 Picov Maturity at Ajax Downs.

A 4-year-old son of champion Country Chicks Man trained by Bryn Robertson, Country Boy 123 made his season debut with a 1 1/2-length victory in the second of two Picov Maturity trials on June 4. The gelding is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he won six of eight races, including the 400-yard, $116,000 Picov Derby, and earned $78,879.

Cory Spataro will ride Country Boy 123, whose nine opponents include One Famous Glass. Trained by Bryn Robertson for owners Carol Robertson, Jaime Robertson, and Dr. Charles Hall, the 7-year-old One Famous Eagle gelding ended his 2016 season with a nose victory in the 440-yard, $101,000 Alex Picov Championship on October 10.

One Famous Glass drew post 8 and will be ridden by Tony Phillips.
