This Is An Eagle, Suenos Dineros Meet In $100,000 Rainbow Juvenile on Sunday

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 19, 2017—Graded futurity winners and undefeated horses This Is An Eagle and Suenos Dineros each come off trial wins to meet side-by-side in the $100,000 Rainbow Quarter Horse Juvenile on Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The Rainbow Juvenile is a supporting feature for the Grade 1, $1-million Rainbow Futurity, also contested on Sunday afternoon. The Rainbow Futurity is a showdown between the two horses that finished in a dead heat for the win in the Grade 1, $1-million Ruidoso Futurity — Eagle Jazz and Uptown Dynasty (see related story).

There is always free parking and free general admission at Ruidoso Downs.

This Is An Eagle and Suenos Dineros each have three wins from three starts.

Mary G. Lynne Thompson’s This Is An Eagle stunned in his career debut at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston when he sped to a three-length win in his trial to the Grade 2, $484,000 Sam Houston Futurity. He backed up that debut with a one-half length win as the 6-5 favorite in the 330-yard Sam Houston Futurity on April 29.

This Is An Eagle, a son of One Famous Eagle, made his next start at Ruidoso Downs in the trials to the Grade 1, $1-million Rainbow Futurity. The Jackie Riddle-trained colt stepped up with a three-quarter length win as the 6-5 favorite. He covered the 400 yards in :19.930.

Regular rider Francisco Calderon rides This Is An Eagle from the third post position.

Victor Lozano’s Suenos Dineros took the early lead in the New Mexico two-year-old division by winning the Grade 2, $230,132 West Texas Futurity at Sunland Park back in April. He won by a neck in a blanket finish.

Like This Is An Eagle, Suenos Dineros then made his next start in the Rainbow Futurity trials. The Shea Cox-trained gelding sired by Bodacious Dash easily won his trial by two lengths in :19.922.

Jose Luis Enriguez rides Suenos Dineros from the second post position.
