HOBBS, NM—SEPTEMBER 20, 2017—A total of 42 2-year-olds has been entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Hobbs America Futurity (G2) trials at Zia Park.

Mr Perry Strong, a gelded son of champion Mr Jess Perry owned by Licon Farm and Ranch LLC, is coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which he won two of three starts, including the 350-yar, $100,000 Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational Stakes on June 11. Mr Perry Strong drew the rail post and will be ridden by Salvador Martinez for trainer Mike Joiner in the first of five trials.

Birrell Farm’s BF Diversion, a homebred daughter of Winners Version trained by Wes Giles, will be making her first start since June 18, when she ran second, a head behind winner Seminole Senator, in the 350-yard Four Corners Futurity at SunRay Park. The filly drew post 2 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos in the third heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the October 8, $80,000-added Hobbs America Futurity final.
