Champion Imperial Eagle Returns in Grade 3 West Texas Maturity

SUNLAND PARK, NM--MARCH 6, 2018--Imperial Eagle, a 4-year-old son of One Famous Eagle campaigned by Christina D. Robinson, drew post 4 for Saturday’s 400-yard, $102,428 West Texas Maturity (G3) at Sunland Park.

Imperial Eagle is the leading earner in the 10-horse field, as the gray gelding has earned $1,815,387 from 17 starts, and his nine wins include a neck victory in the 2016 All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. He is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he scored a neck win as the even-money favorite in the 400-yard, $100,000 Mr Jess Perry Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

Imperial Eagle will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez for trainer Tony Sedillo. Other contenders include Kenneth Ruthardt’s Boogies Special Dash, a 5-year-old Walk Thru Fire gelding and the fastest qualifier. Trained by Wes Giles, Boogies Special Dash made his season debut with a neck victory in the first of three trials on February 16.

Boogies Special Dash drew the rail post and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos.
