Grade 1 Winner Imaqtpie To Make 2018 Debut On Sunday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MARCH 15, 2018—Dutch Masters III’s Imaqtpie, the winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby in 2017, will make her season debut and first start since the Vandy’s Flash Handicap last June when she headlines a solid group of mares in the eighth and final race on the Sunday card at Los Alamitos.

The 300-yard main event is an $11,025 allowance event scheduled to be run at approximately 8:16 p.m. First post is 5 p.m. Trained by Jaime Gomez and to be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio, Imaqtpie will start from post number one, the same spot from where she posted an 11-1 upset win in the Winter Derby last year.

The daughter by One Famous Eagle took about four months off after her big win, but she finished out of the money in the Vandy’s Flash on June 25. She’s posted three workouts in preparation for this race.

"She pulled a muscle in her hind leg and that kept her out of action for several months," Gomez said. "She was sore so we just took out time with her."

Gomez is excited to once again race the winner of $105,358.

"She’s a quality mare and it’s great to have her back," he said. "She’s been training really well."

The field will also feature Steve Burns’ Walk Around Blues and Abigail Kawananakoa’s A Bit Quirky, a pair of mares with runner-up efforts against allowance in their most recent starts. Blink Of An Eye Handicap winner Precious Dominique and My Friend Cindy will complete the field.
