LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 18, 2018—Ed Allred’s Pull The Trigger and Denny and Sandy Weigt’s Racies Favorite are among the promising 2-year-olds showcased on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

The nine-race program will also feature a wide-open test for allowance Quarter Horses set as the final race on the card. First post is 6 pm (PDT)

To be ridden by Eulices Gomez for trainer Scott Willoughby in the sixth race, Pull The Trigger is a California-bred gelding by Stel Corona and out of What Fire. She qualified to the La Primera Del Ano Derby and Governor’s Cup Derby in 2010 and her dam is the champion and All American Futurity winner AB What A Runner.

The Allred-bred Pull The Trigger posted the sixth fastest of 50 works (:12.40) on March 20 and then came back to post a super :12.20 drill, which was the fourth fastest of 37 works on March 31. He’ll be facing a cast that includes Paul Jones and P.K. Thomas’ Hamilton, who returns to action after a troubled sixth place debut on April 7. Jesus Rios Ayala will ride Hamilton.

Fillies will be in action in the fourth race with Denny and Sandy Weigt’s Racies Favorite looking like one of the top contenders. Trained by Monty Arrossa, Racies Favorite is from the family of multiple graded stakes winner Miss Racy Vike. Racies Favorite posted the second fastest of 37 works (:12.30) on April 7. Her chief rivals figure to be Allred’s Alpha Female and Jose Flores and George Seward’s Paddys Princess. Four others will also race.

The allowance test will feature a trio of Allred-owned sophomore fillies in Time To Leave, Always Trying and La Sierran. Time To Leave broke her maiden earlier this season when deadheating for first with Kiss N Air, who’ll also see action in this 300-yard dash.
