Remington Park Futurity Headlines Program Worth More Than $1.5 Million On Saturday Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 18, 2018—The rich Remington Park Futurity, restricted to eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds, is the main event on a huge night of racing Saturday. Total purse money on the 12-race card is $1,579,400 with six stakes events to close out the program.

The $864,500 Remington Park Futurity, which also carries another $70,000 in breeder and stallion bonus money, will take place as the 10th race of the night. The opening race is at 6pm with the Remington Park Futurity, a restricted Grade 2 event, slated for 10:01pm. All times are Central.

The 10-horse field for the race was assembled earlier on Wednesday with Memories R Golden tabbed as the morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds. The fastest qualifier from the first of two nights of 11 trials each on April 6 & 7, Memories R Golden drew the outside and will break from post-position 10. Owned by Ricardo Morales of Roma, Texas and trained by Manuel Almanza, Jr., Memories R Golden will be ridden by Edwuin Lujan.

Memories R Golden broke her maiden status at first-asking here on March 16, winning by 1-3/4 lengths at 250 yards. She then won her 330-yard trial for the Remington Park Futurity by three-quarters of a length. The second and third-place runners behind Memories R Golden in her trial, Jeaniologi and Jess Let It B, also qualified for the futurity.

Lynnder 16 was the fastest qualifier from the second night of trials. Owned by Tom and Bill Maher of Pierre, S.D. and trained by Jason Olmstead, jockey Cristian Esqueda will be aboard Lynnder 16 from post-position three. Lynnder 16 won her trial by two lengths, which was also her career debut.

Remington Park racing takes place Thursday thru Sunday, April 18-22 this week. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday afternoon racing at 1:30pm. Sunday, April 22 is Extreme Racing Day 2018 at Remington Park as the exotic animals compete throughout the afternoon, in between the regular American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa races. The exhibition races will begin the day at 1pm with the Express Ranch Clydesdales’ Match Race.
