Stablemates Headline Allowance Feature On Sunday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 20, 2018—Stablemates Jess Pretending and Are Those Real are among the older horses that will get together in an allowance event on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

The $11,025 test will be held at 300 yards and is slated as the eighth race on the card. First post is 5:40 p.m.

Steve Burns’ Jess Pretending enters the allowance after breaking her maiden in impressive fashion on March 10. Trained by Mike Casselman, Jess Pretending scored a 1-¾ length victory on that night while making her 2018 debut.

The 4-year-old One Sweet Jess mare qualified to the La Primera Del Ano Derby last year. Eulices Gomez will ride her from post four.

Burns and Casselman will also send out Are Those Real, whose stakes experience came in the California Breeders Debutante last year.

Are Those Real, also a daughter of One Sweet Jess, has had a tough time breaking cleanly from the gate at times during her career, but she did fly out of there in her 2018 debut when second to multiple allowance winner Tough To Figure on March 10. Tough To Figure then returned to post another allowance win on April 14. Cesar De Alba rides Are Those Real from post three.

Earlier on the card, Kolleen Ledgerwood’s Jimbosecret will lead a field of nine 2-year-olds that’ll be in action in the seventh race on Sunday. The colt sired by All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here caught the eye when posting the fastest of 25 drills on March 29 when covering the 220 yards in :12.10.

Jimbosecret’s dam is Rare Encore, who won the Grade 3 Aurora Derby and Grade 3 Cherry Creek Futurity both held at Arapahoe Park. She produced Tsunami Splash, a winner of $101,525 and a three-time Grade 1 finalist at Los Alamitos. Jonathan Roman will ride the Oklahoma-bred from post number one for trainer Roberto Dominguez.
