Turf Paradise Presents QH Stakes Tripleheader on Sunday

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 6, 2018—Three American Quarter Horse stakes, topped by the 400-yard, $48,735 AQRA Turf Paradise Open Futurity, are on the docket for Turf Paradise’s eight-race Sunday program.

Yuriana Ramirez’s One Famous Icon, a stakes-placed colt by champion Mr Jess Perry and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 2-year-olds entered back in the AQRA Turf Paradise Open Futurity. Trained by Rigoberto Guillen, One Famous Icon is coming off of a neck victory in the second of three trials on November 18.

One Famous Icon has banked $8,935 from five races. The colt drew post 8 and will be ridden by Joseph Belloc Jr.

Guillen will also send out Sassy Krystal, a sorrel daughter of Heza Fast Dash owned by Ricardo M. Ramirez. Sassy Krystal has earned $28,809 from four outs, and her resume includes a half-length victory in the April 29, 300-yard Desert Classic Futurity at Turf Paradise.

Sassy Krystal drew post 10 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario.

Also on Sunday, Unregulated Cash heads a field of 10 sophomores in the 400-yard, $15,000-added AQRA Turf Paradise Open Derby.

A gelded son of Favorite Cartel owned and trained by Jose Botello, Unregulated Cash has won three of four starts this season, including two stakes and he has earned $31,296. The gelding drew post 10 and will be ridden by Martin Osuna.

Sunday’s stakes tripleheader also includes the 400-yard, $19,000 Mike Hastings Memorial Stakes, which has drawn a field of seven runners. Jenna Cartel, a gray 3-year-old daughter of Big Daddy Cartel owned and trained by Umberto Belloc, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Joseph Belloc Jr. The filly has earned $18,515 from seven starts this year, and she was a finalist in the September 23, $134,000 New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
