PORTLAND, OR—JANUARY 13, 2019—Connie Chumbley’s Sneakin TR will look to score his tenth career win on Monday as he takes on CM Once ina Bluemoon and several others in the 350 yard Quarter Horse allowance contest at Portland Meadows Monday afternoon.

Trained by Scott Raley with Robert Burney to handle the riding assignment for the 8-year-old son of TR Dasher. Sneakin TR was runner-up by a neck in The Portland Meadows John Deere Challenge at 440 yards in just his last start.

Overall he is two for three on the season at Portland as he dashes in the colors of Lowe & Dickerson.

CM Once Ina Bluemoon is fresh off of a victory in The Memorial at 350 yards in the season’s fastest time of :17:70 under the guidance of Jockey Alex Anaya who will once again ride the four year old son of Ivory James.

Trained by Nick Lowe, CM Once Ina Bluemoon was second best in the Portland Meadows Fall Derby last month. The allowance dash will be the second race of the day.

Later in the day, Thoroughbreds will converge at one mile in the day’s fifth and eighth races. Fillies and Mares will meet in the first of the two turn allowance events in the day’s fifth race as a well-balanced field will take the stage. Tough Runner finished second in The City Of Roses Handicap for Trainer Heath Lawrence just over a month ago and now faces a few of the same rivals from that race with Jose Zunino to ride.

Better In Leather looms a top rival for Trainer Neil Knapp with leading pilot Patrick Henry Jr to guide after finishing second to Lovethisbar in a recent claiming test. Better In Leather has won all of her eight career victories at the one mile range. Lovethisbar, who just topped the two aforementioned, will look to put together back to back wins for Trainer Rigoberto Velasquez. Longshot Choteau is winless at the distance but has been red hot lately by winning her last two of three starts at sprint distance.

In the day’s eighth race, open allowance runners will circle the oval at a mile as Take Charge Deputy looks to pick off his fourth win of the meet after racking up scores in the Overnight Handicap, Crater Lake Handicap and an optional allowance win.

Take Charge Deputy opens as the 6-5 morning line favorite for Trainer Jorge Rosales. Jockey Lorenzo Lopez gets the call atop the four year old son of Take Charge Indy. Westley, Trained by Michael Bullene figures to be a strong rival after winning his last two sprint outings as does Weiden for Trainer Mary Tate who has been nearly perfect since arriving from Golden gate Fields with two wins and a second to the credit. Grinning Tiger would be the upset factor and has two stakes wins this season at short distance.

Post time is 12 noon jPST) at Portland Meadows with free admission and parking.
