Wahene Version is Morning-Line Choice in New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes

FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 14, 2019—Wahene Version, a chestnut daughter of Winners Version owned by Erick A. Gutierrez-Carrillo, is one of seven state-bred 3-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard, $60,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (R) at SunRay Park.

Wahene Version will be stretching out in distance off of her half-length victory in the 350-yard, $85,000 Sunburst Stakes (RG3) for New Mexico-bred sophomore fillies at Sunland Park on April 6. The filly has earned $69,240 from three races this season.

The 5-2 morning-line favorite, Wahene Version drew post 2 and will be ridden by Edgar S. Martinez. Her six opponents include German Amaya’s CD Flash And Fame, a graded stakes placed son of champion First Moonflash trained by Jimmy Guerra. CD Flash And Fame will be making his first start since February 16, when the colt ran third, a neck behind winner Ryansmanonthemoon, in the 400-yard, $85,000 New Mexico HBA Stakes (RG2) at Sunland Park.

CD Flash And Fame drew post7 and will be ridden by Paul Garcia.
