FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 16, 2019—Mischka Cartel, a stakes-placed Big Daddy Cartel filly owned and trained by Dick Wellborn, is one of 40 state-bred 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) trials at SunRay Park.

A $5,000 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, Mischka Cartel is coming off of a third-place finish, a 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Koochi Koo, in the 300-yard, $50,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes (R) at Sunland Park on May 5. The filly has earned $14,720 from three races.

Mischka Cartel drew post 8 and will be ridden by Marcelo Barraza in the last of four trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 2, $60,000-added New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity final.
