Royally Significant Headlines Corona Chick On Saturday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 15, 2019—After scoring an impressive win in a trial to the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity, Gary Wright's Royally Significant looks to post another strong race when she faces four runners exiting the Wild West Futurity plus two other top rivals in the $25,000 Corona Chick Handicap at 400 yards Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Bred by Abigail Kawananakoa, Royally Significant is by the 2011 AQHA champion aged stallion Good Reason SA and out of the 2014 AQHA champion aged mare Significant Heart. A graduate of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, the royally-bred filly broke her maiden by a head on September 14 before defeating seven rivals in her Golden State Million trial. Oscar Peinado will ride Royally Significant for trainer Chris O'Dell from post number six.

Old School Icon, Zoom On Jess, CM Singing The Blues, and John Carter Cash all exit the Wild West Futurity. Of the four, Zoom On Jess posted the best finish in the final, running third to Ms Patty Cake on October 27, while CM Signing The Blues is the only one of those four with multiple wins here. Kick It Papa Joe and JR Prissys Blood will complete the field.

Marjorie Avery's Maurice Code was one the most dominant runners during the Fall Meet at Grants Pass Downs that ended on November 7. .

The 5-year-old Coil gelding won three races in the span of a month at the Northwest track, each victory being a complete domination of his rivals. Maurice Code will now make his Los Alamitos debut when he faces six rivals in the $9,500 third race at 4 1/2 furlongs on Friday night. First post is 7 p.m. .

Maurice Code's wins were by 4 1/2 lengths on October 7 and by 9 3/4 lengths on October 21. He completed his Oregon dominance with a 6 1/2 length victory on November 3. His three wins helped make Avery the meet's leading owner and Kassie Guglielmino, who piloted him to all three wins, the meet's leading rider. Trained by Jorge Rosales, Maurice Code will be ridden by Cerapio Figueroa on Friday night. He'll face local veterans like Irish Jack, Cal Cal Li Gowchis, Four Gaels and Aiming Straight in this event.
