SUNLAND PARK, NM—JANUARY 7, 2020—Cat Daddys Lil Girl, a gray daughter of Big Daddy Cartel owned by Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez, will make her 4-year-old season debut in Saturday’s 400-yard, $100,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Handicap (RG1) for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares at Sunland Park.

Trained by Cynthia Gonzalez, Cat Daddys Lil Girl is coming off of a neck victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 400-yard, $145,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on December 1. The mare won three of her seven startts and earned $201,396 last year, and her resume included second-place finishes in the 400-yard, $198,000 Zia Derby (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs, and the 400-yard, $189,000 New Mexico State Fair Derby (R) at Albuquerque Downs.

Cat Daddys Lil Girl drew post 6 and will be ridden by Mauro Salcedo. Other contenders include Sister Sophia, a 4-year-old Big Daddy Cartel mare trained by Mike Joiner for owners Calder and Candy Ezzell of Roswell, New Mexico. Sister Sophia is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which she banked $106,363 from five races and won the New Mexico State Fair Derby.

Sister Sophia drew the rail post and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr.
