LOS ALAMITOS, CA—FEBRUARY 5, 2020—Los Alamitos Race Course returns after a short hiatus with a new Friday night post time of 6 p.m. (PST) and a Pick Six Carryover of $6,774 ready to spice up the 8-race program.
Friday’s card will kick off a great weekend of racing headed by Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby on Saturday night and the Grade 1 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship on Sunday evening. The Winter Championship winner will earn a provisional berth to the 2020 Champion of Champions.
The Pick 6 sequence on Friday will begin in the third race, which features a wide open field of eight Thoroughbreds racing at 870 yards.
The feature race of the night is the eighth - a 350-yard dash for Quarter Horses led by multiple stakes finalist Myfavoritestreaker. Racing for Jeryl Hartley and the late Ron Hartley, Myfavoritestreaker shortens back to 350 yards after winning his 870-yard debut on August 18. The 6-year-old gelding had been racing at 550 yards before his first try at a longer distance, but he often found himself trailing during the early going.
Second in the 2017 A Ransom Handicap at 350 yards, Myfavoritestreaker now returns after his six month layoff while looking for a quick first start while facing five solid foes tonight. He’ll be facing 2016 Wild West Futurity finalist Henry Craig and recent mid-level claiming winners Monarch and Justaczech.
