SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 17, 2020—Cat Daddys Lil Girl, a homebred 4-year-old daughter of Big Daddy Cartel owned by cousins Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez, is the 4-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 350-yard, $100,000 Mesilla Valley Speed Handicap (RG2) for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park.

Trained by Cynthia Gonzalez, Cat Daddys Lil Girl will be shortening in distance off of her three-quarter length victory as the 5-2 choice in the 400-yard, $100,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Handicap (RG2) at Sunland Park on January 11. The mare has won six of 13 starts, including two of three at the 350-yard distance, and she has earned $305,062.

Cat Daddys Lil Girl drew post 3 and will be ridden by Mauro Salcedo.

Other contenders include Kevin Perez’s Marcus Medallion, a 7-year-old Jesse James Jr gelding trained by Clifford Graham II. Marcus Medallion is coming off of a second-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Ryansmanonthemoon, in the 440-yard, $100,000 Dona Ana County Stakes (R) on January 25.

Marcus Medallion has earned $270,718 from 21 outs. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos.
