Three Graded Oklahoma-Bred Stakes Top Saturday Program at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--May 19, 2022--Recent stakes winners JC Wild King and Charlies Fury are among the nine aged Oklahoma-bred runners entered in Saturday's 400-yard, $68,000 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes (RG2) at Remington Park.

The Boyd Morris Memorial is one of three graded Oklahoma-bred stakes featured on Remington Park's 12-race program, which is scheduled to begin at 12:02 p.m. (CDT). The others are the 350-yard, $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes (RG3) for state-bred 3-year-olds, and the 330-yard, $68,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes (RG3) for Oklahoma-bred juveniles.

JC Wild King has earned $62,960 from three starts this season at Remington Park, and his record includes a neck victory as the 13-10 favorite in the 250-yard, $68,000 Mighty Deck Three Stakes (RG2) on March 4. A homebred 4-year-old son of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Santos Carrizales Jr. for owner Jose G. Cervantes, the sorrel gelding is coming off of a third-place finish, a neck behind winner Candy Blood, in the April 16, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) for Oklahoma-breds.

JC Wild King drew post 7 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Charlies Fury is a homebred 6-year-old Furyofthewind gelding racing for Tom and Kathleen McNally of Guthrie, Oklahoma, from the barn of trainer Michelle Hurdle. Charlies Fury has banked $54,518 from three outs during the current Remington Park meet, and his season mark includes a neck victory in the March 31, $68,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes (RG2) for Oklahoma-breds.

Charlies Fury drew post 8 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva.

Trainer Eddie Willis will send out stakes winner Relentless Scorpion as the early favorite in Saturday's FL Lady Bug Stakes. Racing for the Wishbone Partnership headed by Michael Vaughan, the sorrel daughter of Hes Relentless is coming off of a half-length win in the 330-yard, $68,000 Laico Bird Stakes (RG3) for state-bred 2-year-olds on April 16.

Relentless Scorpion is one of 10 entered in the FL Lady Bug Stakes. The filly drew post 10 and will be ridden by Justine Klaiber.

Saturday's Jack Brooks Stakes is headed by Adina Baker's Just A Kool Boy, a homebred Favorite Cartel colt trained by Eddie Willis. Just A Kool Boy will be shortening in distance off of his second-place run, one length behind winner Dreamsville, in the 400-yard, $271,000 Remington Park Derby (RG2) for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds on April 16.

Just A Kool Boy was also a finalist in one of California's richest Quarter Horse races, last year's 400-yard, $1.112-million Golden State Million Futurity (G1) at Los Alamitos. The colt drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jimmy Brooks.
