OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 8, 2014—A pair of $30,000 yearlings and a $25,000 broodmare helped boost the 28th annual LQHBA Fall Mixed Sale Average by 39% Saturday when the association held their first sale at the new Equine Sales of Louisiana, LLC pavilion in Opelousas.
The 2014 edition of the fall sale ended with 82 horses sold for $343,600, up an amazing 20% when considering 107 horses sold last year for $274,900. The sale's average rose by 39% to $4,190 compared to $2,569 in 2013. The median enjoyed a 15% increase from $1,700 to $2,000 this year.
"We are extremely pleased with the results," LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson said late Saturday. "The turnout was fantastic and we really appreciate our buyers and consignors."
Mary Thompson paid $30,000 for Hip #5 Heza Classy Dasher, a Heza Fast Dash colt consigned by Whispering Oaks Farm. The black colt is out of a stakes-placed half-sister to stakes winner Kittys Fast Dash.
Hip #48, the Game Patriot colt Uthinkitsagame out Jess A Fortune, by Mr Jess Perry, was purchased for $30,000 by Emily Holton. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Aaron Harvey consigned the black colt from the family of world champion Dashingly.
John Soileau purchased the high-selling broodmare Hip #85 Ms Pilot Id from Blanchet Farms, Agent for $25,000. The 6-year-old Identity Theft mare is a half-sister to All American Futurity(G1) winner Mr Piloto and All American Derby(G1) third place finisher Point Break Dash. She sold in-foal to G1-placed Tee Cos.

Blanchet Farms, LLC, Agent was the sale's leading consignor and/or agent with 13 head grossing $56,800. Whispering Oaks Farm sold two head for $50,000 and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Aaron Harvey had the one for $30,000. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent also had two head for $29,000.
Jumpn was the leading yearling sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with three head for $3,967. Zoomin For Bux had two for $2,250 and Tf Strawflyin Lajolla had two for $1,225. The two high-seller sires, Heza Fast Dash and Game Patriot, were not included in this list because they only had one each.
Tee Cos led the sale's covering sires (by average with two or more sold), with three in-foal mares averaging $9,467. First crop sire Fast Prize Jordan had two in-foal mares average $6,350 and Okey Dokey Fantasy had two in-foal mares average $3,500.
