Heritage Winter Mixed Sale Closes Three-Day Run Saturday With Increase

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 22, 2015—Heritage Place Sale Company ended their 37th annual Winter Mixed Sale on Saturday with an increase in average compared to last year.

"We had a tremendous sale this weekend," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday evening. "We finished with a 7% increase in the average sales price and for the entire weekend we sold 90% of the horses, repurchases were very minimal."

Preliminary sales figures show 679 head selling for a gross of $8,755,550 and an average of $12,894. The catalog had 835 head indexed with 83 outs and 73 repurchases.

"I believe we had one the largest crowds on hand that we have seen for the Winter Sale and we are very excited about kicking the year off in this fashion. Heritage Place wants to thank the buyers and consignors alike and we wish everyone much success for 2015," he added.

Bobby D. Cox purchased the high-seller, Jess Significant, for $250,000 in Thursday's opening session. She is a daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry whose daughter, Significant Heart, was named the 2014 AQHA Racing Champion Aged Mare on Wednesday evening during ceremonies at Heritage Place. Burns Ranch, Agent consigned the 2006 mare out of champion Significant Speed, by Duel Fuel. She was not bred to carry a 2015 foal.

Simmons Racing paid $208,000 during Friday's session for the second high-seller, Hip 526 Crystal Sola, by Walk Thru Fire. The Grade 3 winner of $215,914 was offered by 6666 Ranch Agent and sold with an embryo to leading sire One Famous Eagle.

Cox also purchased the third high-seller, Shesa First Ratify, in the opening session for $115,000. The All American Futurity(G1) runner-up and her embryo by leading second crop sire First Moonflash was consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Sandy Erwin. The $448,321 earner is by all-time leading sire First Down Dash.

The only other six-figure mare came in Saturday's closing session when Bea Silva purchased Joy Roses Eagle Sa for $105,000 from Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Vince Genco. The Grade 1 placed daughter of leading sire One Famous Eagle has earned $174,804.
