Ruidoso Horse Sale Company kicked off their 2015 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Sale on Friday evening in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.

Regards Miracle Tops Quarter Horse Session of New Mexico-Bred Ruidoso Sale

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 21, 2015—Regards Miracle, a colt by multiple stakes sire Chicks Regard, sold for the top price of $60,000 tonight (Friday) as the 2015 Ruidoso New-Mexico Bred Sale got underway in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. The two-day sale kicked off with their Quarter Horse Session this evening.

Numbers were slightly down from last year as 133 Quarter Horses sold for $1,722,000 as compared to 119 head that brought $1,782,500 last year. The Quarter Horse average this year was $12,947 and the median was $7,500.

Joe Dee Brooks, Scott Bryant, Lee Lewis and Ted Rushing purchased the aforementioned Regards Miracle from the consignment of Cindy Dick. Out of the Dean Miracle mare Old Lady Mitchell, the sorrel colt is a half-brother to New Mexico State Fair Senorita Futurity winner Montauk ($134,869).

Stan Sigman paid $45,000 for Mischka Brown, a daughter of first sale crop sire Big Daddy Cartel from the MJ Farms, Agent consignment. The brown filly is out of Mischka, a RG2 finalist by Brimmerton.

Tied as second high-seller in the opening session, also for $45,000, is Flashy Lifestyle, a daughter of leading sire First Moonflash from the Mr Jess Perry mare Rodeo Moon, a half-sister to champion 2-year-old Your First Moon ($750,726). Steve Brantley signed the ticket on the brown filly consigned by Karina Gonzalez.

Terry Stennett was the sales leading Quarter Horse buyer with three head totaling $101,000. Martin Ybarra paid $85,000 for two head and the aforementioned partnership of Brooks, Bryant, Lewis and Rushing had the high-seller for $60,000.

MJ Farms, Agent was the sale's leading consignor and/or agent with 34 head grossing $602,700. Double LL Farms, Agent sold 37 head for $533,700, Cindy Dick had four yearlings total $94,200, and Sierra Blanca Equine, Agent had 11 yearlings gross $69,500.

First crop sale sire Big Daddy Cartel led all sires (by average with two or more sold) with 11 head averaging $25,864. Chicks Regard had three yearlings gross $24,667 and First Moonflash had 24 head average $17,446.

The second session—Hips 170 thru 283, Thoroughbred yearlings, will get underway Saturday night following the final day of trials for the $3 million All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. A mixed session—Hips 284 thru 323—broodmares and horses of racing age—will follow the Thoroughbred session.
