Six-Figure Yearling Tops Second Session of Heritage Place September Yearling Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 23, 2016—Ride The Tiger, a son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, topped the second session of the 38th annual Heritage Place Yearling Sale on Friday in Oklahoma City.

Off from last year, numbers were slightly better at the close of Friday's second session where 452 head were marked sold for a $6,264,000 gross. Last year's first two-sessions totals saw 462 head sell for $7,592,500.

The $14,858 average fell 17% through two sessions compared to $16,434 in 2015. The $9,500 median price fared much better down only 5% as compared to $10,000 after two sessions last year.

The partnership of Smith, Blanchard, Hays and Benson paid $100,000 for Hip 409 Ride The Tiger, a colt by Mr Jess Perry from the first crop of Valley Junction Futurity(G3) winner Ride My Wagon, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Michael Pohl was the consignor.

Friday's second high-seller Hip 483 Uptown Dynasty brought a final bid of $65,000 from Melvin Neugebauer. 6666 Ranch, agent for Sam W. Green consigned the Mr Jess Perry colt out of the stakes winner Ms Southern Dynasty, by FDD Dynasty.

Jose Rodriguez paid $56,500 for Hip 451 Cruising Paris, a Corona Cartel colt out of RG1-placed and stakes producer First Prize Paris, by Mr Jess Perry. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC was the consignor.

Through two sessions Ramon Vega is the leading buyer with 19 yearlings grossing $255,100. Rachuan Suarez MVZ paid $217,300 for 21 head and Jose Angel / Santos purchased six yearlings for $197,500.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent is the leading consignor or agent through the first two session with 28 head grossing $464,000. Bobby D. Cox sold 21 yearlings for $392,700 and Marty Powers, Agent had 28 head for $376,500.

Leading living sire Corona Cartel is the leading sale sire through two sessions (by average with two or more sold) with 10 yearlings averaging $41,550. Mr Jess Perry had 10 head for $40,000 and One Famous Eagle has 12 head for $30,833. Hez Our Secret is the leading first crop sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with nine yearlings averaging $15,744.
