A Pair of Jumonville Consignments Top LQHBA Fall Mixed Sale at $40,000 Each

OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTBOER 29, 2016—Jumonville Farms sold two horses on Saturday for $40,000 each at the 2016 LQHBA Fall Mixed Sale in Opelousas. The Ventress, Louisiana farm consigned the high-selling yearling and high-selling broodmare at this year's annual sale.

Aaron Harvey signed the $40,000 ticket for the high-selling yearling Jess Blue Dream, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue filly from the Apollo (TB) mare In His Dreams. Sold as the final lot on Saturday, the brown filly is a sister to RG3 winner Political Option and All American Juvenile winner Louisiana Blue Dream and a half-sister to G2 winner and multiple stakes sire Sizzlin Cartel. This is the family of leading third crop sire Apollitical Jess.

Thomas Fontenot, MD paid $40,000 for the 3-year-old Tac It Like a Man filly Tac It Sassy. A finalist in the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity, Tac It Sassy is out of the stakes winning Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Sass Me, and she is a half-sister to champion Jess Walk Thru and stakes winners Sass Me Blue, Jess Being Valiant and Valiant Sass. Tac It Sassy is bred to leading sire Jess Louisiana Blue for her first foal.

Saturday's sale saw 123 head sold for $424,800 compared to 147 head that brought $556,450 in 2015. The 2016 average of $3,454 was slightly down from $3,785 last year. The median price saw a 5% rise to $2,200 compared to $2,100 in 2015.

"This has been a great weekend for our association and Quarter Horse racing in Louisiana," Tony Patterson, LQHBA Executive Director said Saturday. "Our median price saw an increase of 5% , we had a record set of entries for the $1 million LQHBA Breeders' Futurity last night and are looking forward to great set of LQHBA Breeders' Derby trials tonight."

Jumonville Farms led all consignors and agents with five head grossing $94,700. Blanchet Farms, Agent had eight head gross $27,900 and Herbert Quarter Horses, Agent sold 14 head for $26,350.

Jess Louisiana Blue led all sale sires of yearlings, by average with two or more sold, with four head averaging $13,450. First crop sire Tee Cos had two head for $3,850 and First Down Illusion saw two head average $3,750.

Jess Louisiana Blue also led the sale's covering sires, by average with two more sold, with three in-foals mares for $17,067. Coronas Leaving You had three in-foal mares for $5,300 and Jet Black Patriot had seven in-foal mares average $5,014.
