New Mexico Bred Quarter Horses Yearlings Boasts Across The Board Gains In 2021

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 21, 2021—Buyers turned out in force to pickup New Mexico-Bred yearlings, an enthusiasm reflected in the gains over last year for the just completed All American Horse Sale Company's 2021 New Mexico-Bred Quarter Horse Yearling Sale.

In the sale completed Saturday evening, 166 horses sold for gross receipts of $2,730,000 compared to 118 horse for a total of $1,517,000 in 2020. The sale average of $17,961 rose 20% from the $14,448 in 2020. The median price increased 29% to $12,000 compared to $8,500 in 2020. The RNA's were only 8%.

The sale's nine highest sellers came in Saturday's closing session with Ricardo Ramirez paying $97,000 for the sale-topper, Hip 213 Nineteen Crimes. MJ Farms consigned the Big Daddy Cartel half-brother to Zia Futurity(RG1) winner Mr Riptide. The bay gelding is out of Sam Houston Distaff Challenge winner Ms Riptide by Ocean Ruanway.

Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley paid $90,000 for the second high-seller, Hip 156 Ricanelo, another Big Daddy Cartel gelding. Mikkelson Racing, LLC cosigned the brother to 2021 Mountain Top QH Futurity(RG2) winner Mr Innovator. The gray yearling is out of the stakes-placed Dean Miracle mare Total Miracle, dam of three black type including RG2 winner Princess Jessie.

Bradley and Bradley teamed again to get the third highest-seller, Hip 245 Reef Ridge, a Woodbridge gelding for $70,000. Consigned by MJ Farms, Reef Ridge is a brother to multiple graded winner Woodys Copy Cat and a half-brother to RG3-placed Daddys Copy.

Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley were the sale's leading buyers with four purchases grossing $185,000. Ricardo Ramirez had two head for $144,000 and Jose Mendoza paid $101,000 for four yearlings.

MJ Farms was the sale's leading consignor and agent with 36 head grossing $997,500. Double LL Farm sold 58 head for $691,200 and Born Running Ranch, Inc., Agent had 11 head gross $148,500.

Jesse James Jr was the sale's leading sire (by average of two or more yearlings sold) with two head averaging $43,500. Big Daddy Cartel had 27 head average $28,037 and Woodbridge saw eight head average $23,188.

The All American Horse Sale Company will host the Ruidoso Select QH Yearling Sale next month.

The three-day event, scheduled September 3 thru September 5 in the Ruidoso Horse Sale's Pavilion at Ruidoso Downs, will feature 443 head of the industry's finest Quarter Horse yearlings sold in three sessions.
