Yourdarkestnitemare Sets Fastest Time From 13 Sherm Hadley/Ed Giles Memorial Futurity Trials

OGDEN, UT—APRIL 22, 2017—Ridden by jockey Jose Guzman, Yourdarkestnitemare broke her maiden with a one-length victory while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Sherm Hadley / Ed Giles Memorial Futurity in Ogden, Utah Saturday afternoon.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from 94 juveniles who competed in 13 trails races at Weber Downs, will return to the racecourse on Saturday, May 6th to vie for the winners' share of a $77,385 purse.

A $6,200 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate, Yourdarkestnitemare races for owner Giovani Ortiz and trainer Martha Maldonado. Jose Guzman rode the black filly to a :15.674 clocking over the 300 yards to secure the top qualifying time.

Bred in California by Steve D. Burns, DVM, Yourdarkestnitemare is a daughter of multiple stakes sire Favorite Cartel from the Separatist mare Ruths Chris.

Shipping in from Remington Park, where he finished third in maiden start on March 24, Panthers Fast Dash closed the day with a head win over Bk Skat Kat in the final trial to clock the second fastest time of :15.706 seconds for owner/trainer Julio Corral.

Oscar Cervantes rode the Coronas Fast Dash gelding out of Special Lady Panther by Panther Mountain. The Painted Pitchfork is the breeder.

Bk Skat Kat second place effort produced the third fastest time of :15.729 seconds. The First Prize Stone filly was the fastest of three qualifiers saddled by trainer Riley Moosman. The Wyoming homebred racing for owner Bryce Moosman is out of Lotta Kat Moves by Makinmoves.

Moosman also trains 4th fastest qualifier Dust Stone, by First Prize Stone, and 7th fastest qualifier Jr McCuthen, a colt by first crop sire Jr Dynasty Mountain.

An additional trainer with multiple qualifiers was Alvano Torres who saddled two into the May 6th final.

The aforementioned first crop sire Jr Dynasty Mountain sired his first two winners and three of the 10 qualifiers.
