VINTON, LA—JUNE 17, 2017—Delta Downs conducted 15 qualifying trials for this year’s record setting $705,495 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) on Saturday night.

Rogelio Marquez, Jr.’s Dashnunder Afullmoon recorded the fastest 350-yard time while winning the fourth trial of the night under jockey Eddie Sanchez. The Jose Sanchez trainee stopped the timer in 17.481 seconds, which equaled a speed index of 95. Each trial was run over a fast track.

Dashnunder Afullmoon is now three-for-three during her brief career. She won her trial for the Lassie Futurity while making her debut earlier in the season before taking the $322,000 final a few weeks later and winning her trial on Saturday night. If her record stays unblemished in the Lee Berwick final, which takes place on closing night July 8, she will add to her already sizable bankroll of $167,142.

Dashnunder Afullmoon is a 2-year-old filly by Heza Fast Dash out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Full Moon Dasher. She was bred in Louisiana by D & S Racing LLC (now Spring Hill Farms) and was purchased by her current connections for $44,500 at the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Yearling Sale last August.

In addition to saddling the fastest qualifier for the Lee Berwick Futurity, Sanchez also sent out Ttt Kas, a Kas I Said filly who recorded the eight fastest clocking of the night.

Leading trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. was the only other trainer to saddled more than one qualifier during the trials as he enjoyed success with You Drive I Fly, Fabulously Black and Dashing Forthe Money, who set the second, seventh and 10th fastest times respectively.

You Drive I Fly is a daughter of multiple stakes sire Jet Black Patriot from the Mr Jess Perry Shakemupperry. Owned- by Richard Simon and Janelle Zachary the sorrel colt is 2-for-2. He was the first of three qualifiers for jockey Donald Watson and posted a :17.522 clocking in the opening trial.

Leading sires Heza Fast Dash and Game Patriot each sired two finalists.

Leading jockey Alfonso Lujan went down aboard Coushattasizzler in the 12th trial and was taken to a local hospital for observation.
