SHELBYVILLE, IN—JUNE 23, 2017—Ridden by jockey Jose Davlia, went to the front out of the gate and held off A Tacky Chick to win the $49,600 Indiana Grand Classic Stakes Friday night at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino. Hr Chatter Wagon finished a neck back in third.
Saddled by Sacramento Chavez, Shes Da One On Fire completed the 400 yards over a sloppy (sealed) racetrack in :19.981 seconds, earning a 91-speed index. It was the fourth career win in 17 starts for the 5-year-old California-bred daughter of leading sire Walk Thru Fire.
Jesus Daniel Padilla owns the sorrel mare out of Da One by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by famed Vessels Stallion Farm, her second dam is the AQHA Racing champion filly Such An Easy Effort by Special Effort. She used the $28,271 'Grand Classic' winners' purse to boost her career mark to $68,636.
Runner-up, A Tacky Chick, races for owner 3 Colts Racing Corp. and trainer Ricardo Martinez. Alonso Riviera rode the 4-year-old Tac It Like a Man filly out of A Chick Of Class by Chicks Beduino. Bred in New Mexico by Double Bar S Ranch, LLC the bay filly earned $10,280.
Joe Davis saddled third-place finisher Hr Chatter Wagon for owner Q and S Racing. Rolando Pina rode the Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly from the In Excess (TB) mare Excessive Chatter. Randy Hill and Bobby Hammer bred the bay filly in Oklahoma. The multiple stakes-placed winner picked up $5,140 for her effort.
Shes Da One On Fire returned $10.40 to win, $5 to place and $4 show. A Tacky Chick paid $6.60 and $3.80 and Hr Chatter Wagon paid $6.20 to show.
Post-time Mavara Vegas, under jockey Alejandro Luna, angled to the outside following a slow start. Gaining at the wire she settled for fourth.
Jumpn Chick, Beach Birde and Miss Huerfanita completed the field.
