Late Surge By Primercartel Secures Win In Jack Clifford Stakes

SACRAMENTO, CA—JULY 22, 2017—A late surge by Primercartel, under jockey Luis Godoy, propelled the 9-year-old to a neck win over Snow Coronitas in the $8,000 Jack Clifford Stakes (not black type) Sacramento Saturday afternoon. Mi Viejo finished 1-¼ lengths back in third.

Saddled by trainer Isauro Guillen, Primercartel completed the 300 yards in :15.590 seconds, a 98-speed index. It was the sixth career win in 12 starts for the California-bred son of Prime Talent.

The homebred gelding races for owner/breeders Etelvina and Isaias Olmos. He has compiled a (12) 6-3-1 record and the $4,583 winners' purse boosted Primercartel's earnings total to nearly $40,000. He is out of the Dash Thru Traffic mare Dashs Windwalker.

Ridden by jockey Jess Arriaga, Snowy Coronitas took a quick lead but could not hold on for owner/breeder Mariscal Cuadra. Adriana Aceves conditions the Count Corona gelding out of Snow Memory by This Snow Is Royal. He earned $1,667 for the effort.

Also, trained by Aceves, stakes-placed Mi Viejo races for owner Rancho El Alacran. Francisco Monroy rode the 4-year-old Mr Jess Perry colt out of Lady Of Lake(TB) by Salt Lake. The grade 1 finalist at 2 was bred in Mexico by Joaquin Vega. The $1,000 third-place Jack Clifford check boosted Mi Viejo's bankroll to $161,185.
