EVANSTON, WY—JULY 22, 2017—Ridden by jockey C.J. Benn, Treasured Valentine(PT), a son of Dos Poruno, won with authority Saturday afternoon when she defeated Ravensheart by half-a-length to set the fastest qualifying time for the Wyoming Downs/Renegade Sports Derby.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from two trial races held today, will return to Wyoming Downs Saturday, August 5th to vie for the winner's share of a $4,500-added purse going 400 yards.

Saddled by trainer Woody Green, Treasured Valentine(PT) broke her maiden in just her second career start while completing the 400 yards in :19.585 seconds, a 101-speed index.

A Texas-bred racing for owner BNB Racing, Inc., Treasured Valentine was making her first start in more than a year. In her only other race she was a troubled fifth in a futurity trial at Pocatello May 1, 2016. Jerry D. Chapman bred the sorrel filly from the Gol mare Treasured Gol(PT).

Stakes-placed Ravensheart finished a game second in the first trial to secure the second fastest clocking of :19.687 seconds, a 97-speed index.

Jordan Hadley had the riding call aboard the Justaheartofwarrior filly for owner-trainer Ann Hanson. The Utah-homebred from the Stoli mare Holly Ali, has compiled a (6) 2-2-2 record and earned $5,707. She was third in the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity last season.

Signatures Taxman posted a half-length win in the second trial to earn the third fourth fastest time of :19.820 seconds. Jesus Valenzuela was aboard the Dashing Jess Perry gelding for owner/breeders Joyce and Larry Mower. Trainer Gary Chambers saddled the bay gelding to his third win in 10 starts. Signature Taxman is out of Vital Sign mare Sheza Signature.
