SELMA, TX—JULY 22, 2017— Jp In Heavenly Glory flew from the gate then held off Fancy Mamacita to win the $15,000 La Villita Stakes Saturday night at Retama Park. Here Come Callan was a head back in the blanket finish to get third.

Ridden by jockey Luciano Duenez, Jp In Heavenly Glory raced over the 330 yards in :17.165 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 15 mph headwind. Saddled by trainer Jose Sanchez, the daughter of Wave Carver got her second career win and pocketed $9,750 for the effort.

Gabriela Saucedo owns the stakes winning filly out of Jp Straight Shot by Mr Jess Perry. Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC bred the earner of more than $19,000.

Fractious in the gate, runner-up Fancy Mamacita picked up $2,550 for her second-place finish. Eusevio Huitron conditions the Texas homebred daughter of Pappasito for owner/breeder Isabel Huitron. Nestor Duran was aboard the bay filly out Ace Zoomin Fancy by Shazoom.

Last year's TQHA Futurity winner Here Comes Callan earned $1,500 for third. Also, trained by Sanchez, the gray filly is owned by Arturo Morales and Ramon Salinas, Jr. Jack and Mary Evans bred Here Comes Callan from the Tres Seis mare Evans Express. She has earned $21,248.

Zippen Bok and Tres Seis Game completed the field. Jmf Dangerous Corona was scratched.
