Beautiful Return(#6) gets the nod over Dashin For Fortune(#4) and Heza Manzy Scooter(#2) in the $8,200 Rulon Goodman Maiden Stakes Sunday at Rillito Park.

TUCSON, AZ--MARCH 11, 2018--Beautiful Return, a 3-year-old daughter of third-crop sire High Rate Of Return scored her first win Sunday when she defeated Dashin For Fortune by a head in the $8,200 Rulon Goodman Maiden Stakes (not black type) at Rillito Park.

Under jockey Alejandro Ortega, the sorrel filly won with a prolonged drive from the outside and just got up at the wire. She completed the 350 yards in :18.023 seconds. Beautiful Return pocketed $4,510 for the victory.

Omar Cruz saddled the winner for owner Cesar Moreno. Connie Nobles bred Beautiful Return in Oklahoma from the Agouti mare Beautiful World.

Dashin For Fortune contended through from mid-track to just miss. He picked up $1,640 for finishing second. Jockey Emilio Tapia had the riding call aboard the son of Dashin Bye for owner Fabian Mendez and trainer Roy Ronquillo.

Aaron Harvey bred the sorrel gelding in Louisiana from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess A Fortune.

Augusto Echerivel's Heza Manzy Scooter bumped at the start and led briefly at the 1/16th before taking an awkward step approaching the wire, finishing a nose back in the blanket finish to earn $820 for third. Raymond Felix saddled the Heza Motor Scooter New Mexico-bred 3-year-old with Jesus Osuna in the irons.

Bred by Melvin and Marty Neugebauer, Heza Manzy Scooter is out of Manzy Cartel by Corona Cartel.

First Prize Down, Laprieta Linda 2014, Sunnita Special, Jfr El Marro and Shes Jess A Phantom completed the field.
