Bw de Elegant Pulls Ahead in Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity

POCATELLO, ID—MAY 20, 2018— After a good start from the middle of the track, Bw de Elegant stayed near the lead and finished with a head in front to win the $28,500 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello on Sunday afternoon.

The colt by second-crop sire Wagons West made his debut in trials for the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity on May 6 and finished second as the second-fastest qualifier.

Bw de Elegant ($21.00) returned to win the 330-yard final in 17.010 and earned a 95 speed index. Dallas Erickson was aboard for trainer Guy Weeks and owners Betty and Boyd Weeks.

Bw de Elegant was also bred by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks in Idaho, out of Bw de Stuff, by The Flight Stuff.

Bac On Track, the second-longest price in the field, broke sharply and trailed the winner, putting a half-length between her and third-place finisher Silver Jet Dash.

The Jesse James Jr filly was ridden by Leonardo Gonzalez for trainer Monty Arossa. She was third in her trial two weeks ago and was the eighth fastest qualifier.

Bac On Track is an Idaho homebred for Denny Whitaker, out of Bac N The Saddle, by Splash Bac.

Fastest qualifier and post-time favorite Silver Jet Dash was fractious in the gate and made up ground to gain third place by a half-length. The colt broke his maiden in his trial debut for trainer and owner Fredy Olmos. Raymundo Torres had the call for Sunday’s final.

Silver Jet Dash was bred in Texas by Irwin Wall, by Bodacious Dash and out of the A Royal Jet mare Fancy Smoking Jet.

Completing the field were Signed by the Bay, Dk First Frost, Betelgeuse, He Looks Royal, Runaway Jet Voyage and Rob That Wagon. Candelaria was scratched.
