Mamacita Cartel Earns Third Consecutive Win In RG3 Jimmy Drake Stakes

Mamacita Cartel Earns Third Consecutive Win In RG3 Jimmy Drake Stakes

FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 25, 2018—Mamacita Cartel, a daughter of leading third-crop sire Big Daddy Cartel scored her first stakes win on Friday when she defeated Dungarees Version by a neck in the $39,200 Jimmy Drake Stakes(RG3) at SunRay Park.

Jockey Edgar Martinez piloted the 4-year-old to her third consecutive win with a :19.856 clocking over the 400-yard course. Trainer Cynthia Gonzalez saddled Mamacita Cartel for owner-breeder David Bloomer.

Bred from the Woodbridge mare Posies Woodette, the bay filly has compiled a (11) 4-1-1 record and used the $24,000 Jimmy Drake winners' purse to boost her earnings to nearly $90,000. Last season she was a finalist in the New Mexico State Fair Breeders Derby at Albuquerque.

David and Ross Hinkins multiple graded-placed winner Dungarees Version earned $8,000 for this second-place effort. Trainer Larry Chavez saddled the 6-year-old Winners Version gelding from the Woodbridge mare Forty One Special. Jose Ruiz was tapped to ride the earner of nearly $182,00.

Moon River, a daughter of leading sire First Moonflash finished a neck back in the blanket-finish to take third. Jorge Morales-Flores trains the 4-year-old for owner Noberto Morales Perez. Alonso Rivera rode the Mike Abraham New Mexico-bred from the Chicks A Blazin mare A Medley Of Chicks. She earned $4,000.

Princess Jessie Jane, Comin To Your Town, Daddys Masurati, Laynis Diamond and Go Daddy Gone completed the field. Rg Miracle was scratched.
