Flores Wins Five, Roars To Top Of Remington Park Jockey Standings

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 25, 2018—Jockey James Flores took advantage of the opportunity presented to him on Friday night at Remington Park.

While many of the regulars in the jockey colony opted to ride out of town this holiday weekend, Flores stayed put. That decision paid off as he rolled up five victories to take the lead in the rider standings.

The "Friday Night Five" for Flores started early as he swept the daily double, winning race one with an Appaloosa named Sure Nuff A PYC ($9.20 to win) and race two with Bodacious Leader ($7.80). The third win of the night came in the fifth race as Flores rode Painted Diamond ($11.60) to victory.

In the seventh race, Flores scored with Snow Prize ($9.20) to give him four wins for the evening. His fifth and final triumph of the night came with Pirate Coves Hero ($5.20) in the eighth race.

The five-win night for Flores boosted his season total to 39 wins, moving him past Omar Reyes who is now second with 37. Both Flores and Reyes are vying for their first-ever riding title at Remington Park.

Reyes is one of a few regular Remington Park jockeys who chose to ride in the Ruidoso Futurity and Derby trial events during this, the opening weekend at Ruidoso Downs, N.M.

There were plenty of talented horses needing jockeys for their races at Remington Park, offering an opportunity to Flores and others to win more races.

Remington Park racing continues into the holiday weekend, Saturday thru Memorial Day, May 26-28. The first race is at 6pm on Saturday with Sunday afternoon racing starting at 1:30pm. The special Memorial Day program will begin at 3pm.
