Indomable Cartel Returns to Arapahoe Park Winners' Circle in Lucille Rowe Derby

AURORA, CO—JULY 14, 2018—After winning the 2017 Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe Park, Indomable Cartel went winless until he returned to Arapahoe Park June 29th of 2018 to win his trial and post the second fastest time for the $55,000 Lucille Rowe Derby.

Today (Saturday) the son of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel rolled to a 1-¾ length win over Dg Secret Pass in the Lucille Rowe Derby final to earn his second career stakes win. Under jockey Alfredo Triana Jr., Indomable Cartel completed the 350 yards in :18.020 seconds into a 5 mph headwind.

It was the fourth win five starts at the Colorado racetrack for the bay colt. He was also third in the Arapahoe Park Futurity last season.

Trainer Julio Corral conditions the Indomable Cartel for owner Mariano Cornejo. Bred by Francisco Cornejo, from the Wave Carver mare Tahiti Wave, Indomable Cartel has compiled a (13) 4-1-5 record and today's $20,454 winners' purse boosted his earnings total to more than $72,000. He was also third in the Dash For Cash Juvenile at Lone Star Park last fall.

Runner-up Dg Secret Pass stumbled at the start under jockey Luis Guerrero, but recovered nicely to get second for his owner Margarito Montalvo and trainer Hipolito Michel-Valverde. Richard and Genevieve Herrman bred the son of All American Futurity(G1) winner No Secrets Here from the Panther Mountain mare Dg Sumit. Making only his third career start, Dg Secret Pass earned $10,227 for the effort.

Fastest qualifier Shine Your Wagon also stumbled at the start but managed to finish a nose off his stablemate Dg Secret Pass for third. The son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon also races for owner Montalvo and is trained by Michel-Valverde. Robert Valero had the riding call to pick up $6,136 for third. Bill and Marsha Drake bred the bay gelding from the First To Shine mare Shine N Shake.

Shinning Bianca, Sweet N Sour Bars, Fury Of The Ocean, Coronas Top Treasure, Jettin Ben, Coronas A Dash and Its A Blackjack completed the field.
