IDAHO FALLS, ID—JULY 20, 2018—Coming off the fastest qualifying time in the July 4th trials, Tempting Finale returned to Sandy Downs Friday night to defeat stablemate A Stubby Corona by a neck in the $19,000 Firecracker Maiden Frolic (not black type). Little Miss Diesel finished a nose back in the blanket finish to get third-place. Trainer Garth Blattner saddled the trifecta!
Tempting Finale put in a big effort under jockey Rene Gutierrez to complet the 350 yards in :17.685 seconds, a 92 speed index into a 5 mph headwind. It was the third career win in nine starts for the 3-year-old son of champion sire Tempting Dash. The $8,740 winner's purse boosted the Oklahoma-bred's earnings total to $12,622.
Blattner also conditions runner-up A Stubby Corona for owner/breeders Les and Darla Barlow. Jesus Canales rode the 4-year-old daughter of The Louisiana Cartel from the First Wrangler mare Sign Of Pride. Still a maiden from 10 starts, A Stubby Corona earned $3,800 to double her earnings total to $7,600.
Blattner's final piece in Friday's trifecta was Neil and Jere Harris' homebred daughter of Carrington Beach, Little Miss Diesel. Cordarelton Benn rode the gray filly from the Tr Dasher mare RTM Lunch Money. The 3-year-old earned $1,900 for the solid effort.
The Runnin Zodiac, Wind Charged, Movin In Line, Shes Alright Now, Ss Legal Separation and Md Kash Habits completed the field.
