OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 16, 2018—Mpshinning, a colt owned by Larry J. Boudreaux and trained by Josue Huitron, was the fastest qualifier from the 14 trials run on Friday night for the $1,000,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million (RG1).

Mpshinning was a dominant winner in the third trial on the program, covering the 400 yards over the fast track in a final time of :19.646 seconds. That equals a speed index of 99.

Mpshinning has already had futurity success in his initial campaign. He won the $154,000 Gillespie County Futurity in August and was the runner-up in the $404,585 Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park in October. Jockey Luis Vivanco has been aboard Mpshinning in six of his seven lifetime starts and in those six tries, he has never been worse than second.

Mpshinning was bred in Louisiana by Jon and Donna McPherson. He is by Mr Piloto and out of the First To Shine mare, Shinningperrydash. The win on Friday was his fifth career victory from seven starts. The $4,200 first-place purse he earned on Friday night increases his lifetime earnings to $146,654.

Another son of Mr Piloto, Achieveopiloto, posted a one-length win in the final trial to get the second fastest time of :19.776 seconds, a 95 speed index

Trainer Barbara Alcantara saddled the $11,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate to his second career win in five starts for owners Kathi Carter and Rancho Herrandura, LLC. Grants Farms bred the gelding from the Achievement mare Achieve The Splash. Rolando Cabrera had the riding call.

Tetris B, a colt by Fast Prize Dash, who was 4th in the in the $434,358 LQHBA Breeders' Sale Futurity in September defeated $359,715 LQHBA Laddie Futurity(RG2) winner Shakeshakeshakeit in the 13th trial to get the third fastest time of :19.841 seconds.

J.R. Ramirez rode $9,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate for owner Double H Racing Investment LLC and trainer Santiago Riojas, Jr. Bred by Bielau Oaks Tetris B is the first foal of the stakes-placed Big Time Favorite mare Diva Eleanor.

Jockey Luis Vivanco was the standout performer on Friday night with four wins on the program. Equally as impressive, Vivanco was aboard three of the 10 finalists that qualified for the LQHBA Louisiana Million. He had the ride on Mpshinning (fastest qualifier), as well as His Louisiana Dream (fifth-fastest) and Five Bar Jewel (tied for ninth-fastest).

Each of the 14 LQHBA Louisiana Million trials offered a purse of $7,000 and the final will offer a purse of $1,000,000 with the winner earning $445,000. It will be one of four finals to be run on Saturday, December 15 at Evangeline Downs.
