Pocatello Downs hosted three trials on Sunday's race card for the $7,500-added Pocatello Maiden Frolic (not black type). The final will be contested May 27.

E Gmail Sets Top Mark In Maiden Frolic Trials at Pocatello

POCATELLO, ID—MAY 12, 2019-E Gmail, racing for owner-trainer Bob Pence, raced to his second connective win on Sunday, winning the second of three trials for the Pocatello Maiden Frolic (not black type) by 1-¼ lengths. His time of :17.827 seconds for the 350 yards was the top qualifying mark to the May 27th final.

The 10 fastest horses will return to Pocatello Downs on the 27th to compete for the winner's share of $7,500-added purse. For 3-year-old-and-up maidens, at time of nomination, who qualify, the race will be contested over 350 yards.

California-bred E Gmail is a daughter of multiple stakes sire Hawkinson from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Another Ticket. Ridden by jockey Jesus Valenzuela, the 3-year-old filly has compiled a (8) 2-1-1 record and earned $6,474. EG High Desert Farms is the breeder.

Rigoberto Galvan's The Dashing Man defeated Loco Ocho by a neck in the final trial to get the second fastest clocking of :17.844 seconds, a 90 speed index. Also ridden by Valenzuela, the son Louisiana-bred son of world champion sire Stoli is trained by Ricardo Castillo.

Also a two-time winner, The Dashing Man is out of McM Easy Girl by Some Dasher. Nash Development LLC is the breeder. Trainer Mark Hanson saddled the first of two qualifiers when Darkmoon Deluxe took the opening trial by three-quarters under jockey Jesus Canales. It was the first win in six starts for the Louisiana-bred son of champion/champion sire First Moonflash.

Darkmoon Deluxe races for the partnership of RTM Stables LLC, Larry Chapple and Shauna Dunn. AQHA Racing champion breeder Grant Farms, LLC bred the brown gelding from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Deluxe.
