John Carter Cash, Senor Frogs Dead-Heat For Top Mark in Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity Trials

GRANTS PASS, OR—JUNE 16, 2019—Pot O'Gold Futurity winner John Carter Cash and Senor Frogs dueled to a dead-heat in the third of four trials for the $25,000-est. Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass Downs on Sunday.

The pair of 2-year-olds stopped the clock in :17.638 seconds, a 98 speed index, to tie for the top qualifying mark.

Jockey Robert Burney rode John Carter Cash to his third consecutive win, in as many starts, for owner Juan Rodriguez and trainer Jose Gomez. Bred in Oregon by Ronald Raley, the bay colt is by multiple grade 1 sire Carters Cartel from the Dash Ta Fame mare One Fast Trick.

John Carter Cash entered the trials off a win in the Pot O'Gold Futurity in his last start on May 12. He has earned $12,132.

Also a finalist in the Pot O'Gold, Senor Frogs races for owner-trainer Freddy Ibarra. Jaime Lopez rode the son of second-crop sire Coronado Cartel to his second career win in three starts Michael and Shannon McKay bred the bay gelding in Oregon from the Mr Eye Opener mare Nellie Soprano.

The eight fastest qualifiers from today's trials will return to Grants Pass Downs on Thursday, July 4th to vie for the winner's share of a $25,000 estimated purse going 350 yards.
